Painting, drawing, carve, sculpt...to face the wonderful mystery of the blank canvas or the blank sheet or the formless clay. The adventure begins. The impulse of passion makes skillful hand. The material is rebellious...it is a relentless struggle between the artist and the media used...what his mind and heart have been designed, a powerful and magnificent rival comes into play: man and media are in the arena...opposite each other, facing each other...in his hand wields a brush or a piece of charcoal or a pen or his own hand, then begins stroke after stroke...knead and knead the clay. The work is intense. The fight is tough.
When will this end? So many times the artist questions himself: when to stop? When the work is finished? Often there is no answer. And, as the warrior in battle, one moment resting, it is necessary...and at the end with courage and determination, the work on the table or on the easel, there is embodied.
It was what the artist imagine on the first place?
The answer I leave it, with my invitation, to whoever is encouraged to participate in this meeting of man and media. Through the centuries, thousands of artists have faced it, leaving us a legacy that becomes the portrait of man on earth
